I got certified … again

Well, this is kind of a strange post, since it’s all about padding myself on my shoulders… But I guess, not many have done what I did today which makes me feel proud.

Today I had signed up for two Microsoft exams, MCTS: Windows Sharepoint Services, Configuring (70-631) and MCTS: Office Sharepoint Server, Configuring (70-630).  I completed the first exam within 30 minutes with a passing score. The second took me just about 40 minutes to pass.

Now, I had already set aside my entire day in order to take the exams, so I figured I would sign up for another. The choice of exam was MCTS: Upgrading MCSA on Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008 (70-648). Well, that one took me another 40 minutes to pass.

Now, I am a consultant, so I figured I would do some remote work on a clients web servers, while Teknologisk Institut (the Prometric Test Center were I had booked my exams) was downloading my next exam.

Yes, I had decided to take yet another exam, this time it was MCTS: Upgrading MCSE on Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008. You guessed right – It took 40 minutes to complete with a passing score.

Now, to take a more advanced certification, a had to options. The MCITP: Server Administrator(70-646) or the MCITP: Enterprise Administrator (70-647). I could take on the MCITP:SA, but I had plenty of time left, so I figured I would complete the required exams for the MCITP:EA first – and I was only missing a Windows Client exam and ofcourse the MCITP:EA exam itself. I booked the MCTS: Microsoft Windows Vista (70-620), and while the exam was downloading, I once again spent some time on my clients.

Well, another 40 minutes spent on an exam, and one more passing score. This is 5 out of 5 – so far. At this point, I was really tired. But I figured I might give the MCITP:EA exam a go – which I shouldn’t have. The last 40 minutes, sadly, did not end up with a passing score.

But still, I am proud of what I accomplished – 5 passing scores, 6 exams, within 5½ hours, and in between helping clients – what could be more satisfying in terms of my professional career?

Now, someone out there just might think that this is all just an imaginary story – but for those that doubt my word; check out my transcript here:

And in case you’re wondering… I’m still padding my shoulders and congratulating myself…
